Web4Africa builds a distributed, economical and efficient network infrastructure that allows access to internet in those areas lacking it.
Web4Africa proposes to build a distributed, economical and efficient network infrastructure that allows access to internet cooperatively and to a network of communication and file storage/sharing both on and off line. Areas now escluded will be served instead, thanks to the use of open source software and the creation of an open hardware device that distributes the network. It is envisioned the integration of a business model which allows to maintain the network and reward the participants.
This idea was selected as part of the StudENT for Africa project.
