Intesa Sanpaolo Group is the largest banking group in Italy, with 11.9 million customers and over 4,200 branches and one of the main ones in Europe.

Intesa Sanpaolo was born on January 1st, from the merger of Sanpaolo IMI into Banca Intesa in 2007 - banks that played a leading role in the consolidation process of the Italian banking system, becoming two of the largest national groups. The Intesa Sanpaolo Group is the Italian leader in financial activities for families and businesses, in particular in banking intermediation (with an 18% share of deposits and loans), in life premium income (with an 18% share), in asset management (21%), pension funds (23%) and factoring (26%). At December 31st 2018, the Intesa Sanpaolo Group had a total assets of 787,721 million euros, loans to customers for 393,550 million euros, direct bank deposits of 415,082 million euros and direct insurance deposits and technical reserves of 149,358 million euros.

The Group's business is divided into six divisions: Banca dei Territori Division; Corporate and Investment Banking Division; International Subsidiary Banks Division; Private Banking Division; Asset Management Division and Insurance Division.
