STUDENT FOR AFRICA

ARE YOU AN ALMA MATER STUDENT?

DO YOU HAVE A PROJECT OR AN IDEA THAT COULD HAVE A SIGNIFICANT SOCIAL AND ECONOMICAL IMPACT ON AFRICA?

StartUp Day meets Stud-ENT for Africa is the program that supports students of the University of Bologna who have innovative projects that foster social and economic development in Africa.

To participate, you necessarily need to apply to the initiative “Call for Ideas for Start Up Day 2019” before January 15th, at 14.00. Please, specify that you are applying with a project that has impact in Africa, by answering the relative question in the Application form.

Among the 30 ideas that will be selected for StartUp Day, 3 positions will be reserved to projects relevant to Stud-ENT for Africa. If selected, you will attend training lessons and coaching, offered by Alma Mater. Experts with knowledge of the African market will help you to focus on the project more clearly, and you will participate in the pre-incubation program offered by Almacube. After 1 year of incubation you will have the opportunity to take part in the final challenge with the opportunity to win a prize in money

In addition, Alma Mater will support the teams by giving access to its network, both national and international.

You can find on Youtube the two formative meetings that took place in November, with the goal of preparing applicants to the Call for Ideas and, in general, giving insights on the Startup world (Incontro 1: What the hell is a startup? –  Incontro 2: How to make a pitch). Videos are in Italian with English subtitles.

We strongly recommend to watch them, in order to get some useful inputs for your application.

Until the 15th of January you have the possibility to:

  • Book a meeting One2One (15 minuti), writing to startupday@unibo.it
  • Ask support to our business experts of the team Stud-ENT for Africa. You can have access to a private Skype call of 15 minutes by writing an email to studentforafrica@unibo.it and attaching to it an abstract of your project. The Skype call can be booked on Friday 11/01, from 10.00-12.00 and on Monday 14/01, time still to decide. You have time until Friday 11/01 to book your meeting.
