Event location: Auditorium DAMSLab, Bologna
The film festival will start on Wednesday 14 May with “The Impossible” (2012). Directed by J.A. Bayona, the film tells the story of an Indian Ocean tsunami that devastated Thailand in December 2004. The point of view is that of a family spending their holidays in this country: separated by the force of the water, after a series of touching coincidences, parents and children finally manage to reunite. A profound reflection on human frailty in the face of the devastating force of nature and, at the same time, an exaltation of hope, solidarity and resilience in the most desperate moments. 'The Impossible' highlights the crucial role of empathy and mutual support between strangers during crises, offering an intense look at the strength of interpersonal bonds and the struggle for survival in extreme conditions.
