SAFER HYDRONIC URBAN PAVEMENTS (SAFERHP) - Updates

In urban areas around the globe today most people live. People, who use urban pavements daily. To create liveable cities, smart engineers are needed. Therefore Durth Roos Consulting GmbH became part of a European project within Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions for international training networks in Europe.

15 young researchers are working on specific challenges for safe, efficient, sustainable and smart urban pavements of the future. The Early Stage Researcher at Durth Roos Conulting GmbH is focusing on the development of an adaptable temperature-controlled asphalt pavement that allows reducing the surface temperature during warm periods, which will decrease the urban heat island effect and prevent road damage, while in colder periods it will keep the surface free of frost, thus ensuring road safety for all road and pavement users. The temperature controlled asphalt pavement will be developed by numerical models and laboratory tests.
