Alma in a Box

Healthy local food for the university community

The aim of the project is to offer the university community an ordering and delivery service for fruit and vegetables grown by the University of Bologna’s Experimental Farm (Azienda Agraria - AUB) and other producers selected from social cooperatives and similar farms according to specific quality criteria. The products that can be purchased are fruit, vegetables, seasonal cereals and pulses, and processed products. The possibility of integrating the offer with products of animal origin is also under consideration. An online platform (which is also accessible using smartphones and tablets) will be used to select products, place and pay for orders, and choose a delivery method. Deliveries will be made to predetermined collection points on the university premises, with the possibility of one or multiple weekly deliveries to each collection point. The possibility of home delivery is also envisaged.

The project was approved by the BoD on 24 July and the service provider will be determined by a tender process. According to the contract specifications, which are still being drafted, the contracted service provider will be responsible for: • Creating, managing and maintaining the online platform; • Acquiring AUB produce on consignment; • Managing reservations, orders and online payments; • Delivering the products to predetermined collection points around the university; • Promoting and raising the profile of AUB and UniBo.
