11th Workhsop on Crystal Forms, Bologna 2021

Here we are again.

We are pleased to inform the “crystal makers” community that the 12th Bologna’s convention on crystal forms – CF@Bo n.12 will be held in Bologna on 10-12 September 2023.

As in the previous eleven occasions, the meeting is organized jointly by the Molecular Crystal Engineering group of the Department of Chemistry "Giacomo Ciamician" and by PolyCrystalLine s.p.a., a former spinoff company of the MCE group.

The meeting will begin on Sunday 10 at the historical location of the Chemistry Department "Giacomo Ciamician" of the University of Bologna and continue on Monday 11 and Tuesday 12 at the Aemilia Hotel nearby.

In keeping with the tradition of CF@Bo, the main objective of the meeting is that of providing a forum for an open academy-industry discussion of the new challenges that the theme “crystal forms” presents daily to researchers in both working environments.

CF@Bo also represents an opportunity for young researchers to meet senior scientists and researchers from academy and industry and establish new collaborations.

The following scientists have already accepted the invitation to speak at the convention:

From Academy:  Sally Price (UCL, UK), Mike Zaworotko (Limerick, Ireland), Ashwini Nangia (CSIR-NCL, Pune, India), Bucar Kreso (UCL, UK), Jon Steed (Durham, UK), Doris Braun (Innsbruck, Austria), Edyta Pindelska (Warsaw, Poland), Aurora Cruz Cabeza (Durham, UK), Javier Ellena (San Paulo, Brasil), Tomislav Friscic (Birmingham, UK), Malla Reddy (IISER, Kolkata, India), Lidia Tajber (Dublin, Ireland), Gerard Coquerel (Rouen, France), Oleksii Shemchuk (UCLeuven, France), Elena Simone (Polytechnic of Torino, Italy), Lucia Maini (Bologna, Italy) and Susan Bourne (Cape Town, South Africa). A contribution from Susan Reutzel-Edens (CCDC, UK) has also been confirmed

From Industry: Helen Blade (AstraZeneca), Matteo Daldosso (Evotec Company), Alfred Lee (Merck), Amy Woods-Ryan (GSK), Ana Kwokal (Syngenta Crop Protection), Luc Aerts (UCB Pharma S.A., Belgium), Pat Basford (Pfizer), Philipp Ectors (LaRoche), Enrico Modena (PolyCrystalLine, Italy), Paroma Chakravarty, (Genetech Inc, San Francisco, USA), Marcus Neumann (Avant Garde materials), Gianluca Bianchini (Dompè), Susan Reutzel-Edens (CCDC, UK), and Robert Geertman (Janssen Pharmaceutica).

Contributions are also expected from scientists operating at Indena and Chemessentia.

Early bird registration will open on 1 March.

Besides invited talks, participants will have the opportunity to present their work in a poster session on Monday, 11 September. Following an ongoing discussion within the community, a special session on the additional challenges faced by women in science will be organized.
