Main research activities/topics/projects

ISMI: Intersectional Studies on Multiple Inequalities (field: Inclusive Education, PAED-02/A)

The ISMI Research Laboratory aims to address mechanisms of social exclusion by fostering theoretical, methodological, and empirical reflection on discrimination and ableism, while also promoting the design and implementation of inclusive practices. Its various areas of action reflect the Laboratory’s commitment to an inclusive vision of society, grounded in the fight against persistent inequalities, prejudice, and discrimination affecting marginalized groups. More broadly, the project fosters reflection through an intersectional lens, recognizing that the experience of ableism is often shaped and intensified by the interplay of multiple forms of marginalization. In this perspective, particular attention is devoted to the inclusion and representation of voices that have historically been less present in disability rights advocacy, especially those of people with multiple marginalized identities, including racialized people with disabilities, low-income communities, and sexual and linguistic minorities.
