Plan Einstein - public incubator
Citizens in need
Aid to find independence through entrepreneurship
• "Build Your Own Future" is a program set up by Plan Einstein to aid citizens in need to find independence through entrepreneurship.
• The incubator is born because of the wishes of one Dutch municipality to foster integration for asylum seekers and to give a life direction to the Dutch residents that need it.
• Participants need to fulfill different criteria in order to apply to the program, namely having a clear business (or job) idea, being able to communicate in the language of the program, having the willingness to invest time in it and, lastly, live in the area of the municipality that sponsors the program.
• The main (internal) trainers of the program are hired by the municipality; they are experts on themes like entrepreneurship and business building.
• The program is described as a dynamic business training, during which participants are taught the basics of entrepreneurship, and topics like customer research, financial planning, laws and regulations. Attention is given also to the personal development of the participants.
• The language of the program is either English or Dutch. Trainers allow translators in their sessions (for example, a family member of the tenant) if program participants are not confident enough in the aforementioned languages.
• The trainings are preferably carried out in person, as this allows the creation of a connection between the trainer and the entrepreneur, which is crucial for the transfer of knowledge and information.
