First Academic Board (FISH-MED)

January 31st, 2018 the first Academic Board of the international PhD programme "Innovative technologies and sustainable use of Mediterranean Sea fisheries and biological resources" (FishMed-PhDwas held at the Laboratory of Marine Biology and Fisheries of Fano, University of Bologna. Professors and researchers from UniBo, and the National Research Council (CNR) together with professors from foreign Universities and research institutes, as Bar-Ilan University (Israel), University of Amsterdam (The Netherlands), University of Haifa (Israel) and Hellenic Center for Marine Research (Greece) participated to the Board.

During the meeting Stefano Goffredo was elected coordinator of the PhD and the procedures for admission of PhD candidates and composition of the selection committee were defined.

FishMed-PhD aims to investigate the relationship between human activities and marine ecosystems and the influence of other drivers of change (e.g., climate change, alien species) and the quantification of social and economic consequences associated with fishery activities. The international FishMed-PhD aims to contribute to train the new European generation of managers, able to plan the sustainable use of marine environmental resources, within the European Blue Growth and Blue Economy policies, which consider the sea as the center of the economic and social growth of this century by respecting the environment.

The call to participate will be published soon, and will be available on the official UniBo webpage and on different institutional platforms (e.g., Euraxess) which support the career development of researchers.
