Overview

Law in Chinese project organizes, in cooperation with the Confucius Institute of the University of Bologna, a winter school on “Chinese for Business along the new silk road”. The winter school is designed to give a practical overview of the main features of Chinese law for business.

The course is structured in 6 days of intensive learning and designed to enhance participant’s English and Chinese communication skills in the business law field. Case studies with legal professionals and entrepreneurs will also be presented.

 

Addressed to

Students in law, political science and economics and students in Chinese language; Practicing lawyers;Trainee lawyers; Academic lawyers with an interest in comparative law.

Subjects covered

  • Investments in the new silk road and transnational issues
  • The new contract law in China in the framework of the codification process
  • Conflict resolution: arbitration and mediation
  • Practical issues for working in and with the Chinese business environment: presentation skills, communication skills (also on social networks), meetings and interview skills

The course will last for a total of 24 hours.

The part of the course focused on more practical skills (emailing, letter writing, telephoning, meeting and interview skills, contract drafting) is divided in two tracks: for those who do not have any knowledge of Chinese and those who have a basic knowledge of Chinese language. For the first group (who do not have any knowledge of Chinese language) the topic will be covered in English and completed by a general introduction to Chinese language. For the second group the topic will be covered both in English and in Chinese.

Tuition fees

€ 380 per person, including reading and working material. For students attending the course a certificate of attendance will be delivered.

Enrollment

Registration will be open from January 23 to February 10, 2020. In order to enroll, it will be necessary to submit registration form.

Opportunity to study in China

The participants to the winter school who meet the requirements, will participate in the selection for scholarships to attend a summer school program, held in July 2020, at Renmin University in Beijing.
