PRIZEFISH

The PRIZEFISH objective is to implement a cross-border, territorial and socio-economic developmental change in the cooperative renewable exploitation of Adriatic fishery resources and consequently in the long-term benefits on the Adriatic marine ecosystems. Adriatic fishery resources are shared and exploited by coastal economic communities and they suffer of overfishing or severe exploitation and decline risks. Common Fisheries Policy recommends to implementing medium-term strategy for sustainability, based on strong scientific/socio-economic analyses and innovative actions that can empower small scale fishermen and fishery operators to adopt low-impact fishing methods.Common Organisations of Markets recommends cross-border cooperation among fishers towards sustainable fishing, matching market demands and consumer attitudes, as well creating innovative added-value seafood products that can penetrate with success EU and non-EU markets.
PRIZEFISH tackles the dual territorial challenge for Italian and Croatian Adriatic fishing SMEs and Producer Organizations (POs) to be more sustainable and to increase their economic competitiveness in the seafood markets, by developing and piloting innovative fishery products with added-value given by ecolabels fulfilling requirements of environmental, economic and social sustainability.
This goal will be achieved through a three-pillar approach (High content of research & innovation, Industry-driven and market penetration and Capitalization in fishery-based communities) and a transnational, balanced IT-HR partnership built on the quadruple helix approach: University & Research Institutes; Fishing SMEs & POs, Territorial development bodies and no-profit organizations/NGOs.
