Date: 16 APRIL 2025 from 11:00 to 12:15
Event location: Press Room of the Chamber of Deputies
Type: Meetings and conferences
"Graphic Medicine: why comics are good for your health" is the title of the conference that will take place on Wednesday, April 16th at 11:00 AM in the Press Room of the Chamber of Deputies in Rome.
Through a multidisciplinary approach involving professors, doctors, sociologists, comic artists, and patients, the conference aims to explore the role of graphic medicine in medical communication and in raising awareness of the culture of "donation." During the conference, projects, books, and personal experiences of illness will be presented, demonstrating how graphic medicine is a powerful tool for communication and outreach. It is capable of educating, promoting, and raising awareness on healthcare topics and issues considered taboo in an empathetic, engaging, and easily accessible way.
Representing the Anatomical Center, Prof. Stefano Ratti, Professor of Human Anatomy and President of the "Graphic Medicine Italia" association, and Prof. Lucia Manzoli, Professor of Human Anatomy and Head of the national reference center for the preservation and use of the bodies of the deceased at the University of Bologna, will participate.
Additionally, from the University of Bologna, Prof. Luca Di Marco, cardiac surgeon, Prof. Veronica Moretti, sociologist and vice president of Graphic Medicine Italia, and from the Academy of Fine Arts (Accademia di Belle Arti), Prof. Sara Colaone, will participate. Finally, there will be a direct testimony from a patient featured in a graphic novel, Massimiliano Ponzo.
