The ring of differential operators on a smooth variety is the universal enveloping algebra of the Lie-Rinehart algebra (Lie algebroid) of derivations (i.e. vector fields),
hence carries a natural Hopf algebroid structure. In this talk I’ll explain why the ring of
differential operators on the cusp carries such a structure, too.
