XCELING: Towards Excellence in Applied Linguistics. Innovative Second Language Education in Egypt

CAPACITY BUILDING

The European XCELING project - Towards Excellence in Applied Linguistics. Innovative Second Language Education in Egypt, of the KA2 - Strategic Partnerships in Higher Education sector, was funded by the European Union and will be developed in the period October 2017 - October 2020.

The project, headed by the University of Salamanca, unites a group of European Universities (in addition to Bologna and Salamanca, Heidelberg, Poitiers, Trinity College Dublin, Coimbra) with the aim of carrying out training activities addressed to trainers in the scope of the respective national languages and pre-doctoral programs in Egyptian universities (Cairo, Alexandria, Helwan, Minia, South Valley and Pharos).

The task of the Bologna research unit based at the FICLIT - Department of Classical and Italian Philology, will be the coordination of activities related to the teaching of Italian in Egypt and the promotion of training initiatives aimed at teachers of Italian at the Egyptian universities involved in the project.

Among other things, the training activities planned for the languages involved aim to increase the use of innovative methods of linguistic teaching, in particular ITC-based, continuing in this sense what was started with the E-LENGUA project.
