A meeting to highlight the commitment of the University of Bologna with Africa

Telling the richness, the complexity and the strategic importance of relations with the African continent for the University of Bologna. This is the aim of the meeting "Alma Mater with Africa - projects and partnerships for innovation and sustainable development" which will take place in Bologna on November 27th within the European Researchers' Night 2020, dedicated this year to the solutions provided by the Research to respond to the 17 UN objectives of the 2030 Agenda.

The meeting on Friday 27 November will be divided into two parts. A first session, moderated by Massimo Zaurrini, journalist and editor of Africa & Affari magazine, will see the intervention of nationally renowned guests talking about the main challenges of Africa today in the fields of education, research and development of the main economic sectors. Besides, they will talk about the central role that Italy and the University can play in this context.

In the second part, professors and researchers will talk on the commitment of the University of Bologna in Africa and for Africa. The will show the objectives and the results of a selection of projects - in the fields of research, training, third mission and entrepreneurship - underway in the various geographical areas of the African continent. Real-life scenarios, adopted solutions and cooperation with local actors will be highlighted.

The meeting will end with the award to the startup Bioverse Srl of the Prize 2019. The prize will be granted within the StudENT for Africa project, the Alma Mater program for the development of student entrepreneurship. Sponsored by Banca Intesa San Paolo and IBM, the project supports the implementation of innovative business ideas to create economic and social development in African countries.
