Inclusive Education in Albania

The general objective of the project is: "All children in Albania develop their potential by improving their learning outcomes." The direct beneficiaries of the project will be preschool children, with particular attention to those with disabilities, who will benefit from inclusive learning opportunities and quality education in the municipalities of Korce and Elbasan.

The project will focus on the three pillars of inclusive education: "access", "quality" and "institutional strengthening". Health workers, teachers and representatives of the institutions will be trained to recognize disabilities in a timely manner. Target communities will benefit from 2 new inclusive nurseries.

Thanks to forms of inter-university collaboration, an inclusive and child-centered program will be introduced in nursery schools and kindergartens, which can also be replicated in other regions. The rate of nest / nursery school enrollment will be positively influenced and the universities and municipalities of Korce and Elbasan will be supported with a view to long-term sustainability.

Through this project the partnership guarantees the following results in three years:

1. Vulnerable children are guaranteed better access to pre-school education through the timely identification of problems in development, adequate educational facilities and a greater awareness of their families and communities. 
2. Preschool children, with particular attention to children with disabilities, are adequately supported in their learning and development through inclusive quality child-centered educational programs. 
3. The municipalities of Elbasan and Korce strengthen their capacity to respond to the needs of children with disabilities and their families.
