AICS/MAECI. Duration of the project: 2018 - 2019
ROCHEMP Center is the result of a project developed by the University of Bologna and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia, with the support of AICS – Italian Agency for Development Cooperation. The project is aimed at establishing, in Armenia, a “competence Center” able to provide assistance and support in future activities related to management, conservation and enhancement of cultural heritage in Armenia and the surrounding Region.
The Center will operate in support of all kind of Cultural Heritage: from archaeological objects to paintings, from sculpture to architecture, without forgetting the value of Armenian traditions and cultural uses, which are the Intangible Heritage of the Republic of Armenia.
The project is structured into five key programmatic areas: Management, Training, Regulations, Communication, Regional Hub.
Dedicated activities have been designed for each of them, to design training and exchange opportunities that will allow a first group of local and regional experts to update and increase their knowledge in the field of restoration, management, communication and enhancement of Cultural Heritage. This will be possible thanks to the direct involvement of professors, researchers and technical staff from four involved structures of the University of Bologna, of which the Department of Cultural Heritage of the Campus of Ravenna is leader.
The experts of University of Bologna will provide their skills and knowledge in the field through the realization of pilot lifelong learning courses, with frontal lessons and field activities, and through participation in conferences, workshops, round tables and seminars open to all interested experts and operators in the field.
The Center, inaugurated on 31st July 2019, at the presence of the President of the Republic of Armenia, Armen Sarkissian, and the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, is located in the premises of the National Gallery of Armenia (Republic Square, Yerevan).
