The Parmigiano Reggiano supply chain, which represents one of Italy's most important dairy products and one of the world's most famous protected designation of origin (PDO) cheeses, is particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change.
The IMAGE LIFE project aims to extend resilient agricultural principles creating a virtuous model from an environmental, social and economical point of view for the production of "Parmigiano Reggiano," in particular, by increasing the stability of production of resilient crops as a source of grain for animal feed (sorghum, millet, wheat, and sunflower). The project aims to create a Parmigiano Reggiano supply chain based on a local production system that is more independent of technical inputs and foreign raw material imports.
